San José
Originally it was a fishermen village, located in the bay of San Jose, between the Cerro de en medio and the Cerro of cala Higuera. Rests of old houses are still conserved.
In the 18th century a fort was built that gave its name to the population and was destroyed in the war of independence. Currently, the Civil Guard headquarters house sits on its old batteries
Now this town of Níjar has replaced its fishing activity with a sustained tourism development, consistent with the aesthetics and forms of the environment and has become the tourist center of the Park.
The town has all kinds of tourist services: Hotels, restaurants, Dive Centers, Hostels and also Kayaks. From San Jose you can access the Genoveses and El Mónsul beaches , the most spectacular virgin beaches of the Mediterranean and all of Andalusia. In these magnificent beaches many movies have been shot, among which we could highlight Indiana Jones and the last crusade, talk to her or series like Paco's Men.ALL ABOUT CABO DE GATA
